Estela Commercial Support

Need a feature built into your Estela instance?

Platform enhancements and custom feature development for self-hosted Estela are outside the standard retainer — but they're something we can do. Every request is scoped and quoted separately as part of your engagement.

Frequently asked questions

Everything teams ask before choosing BMC or Estela Commercial Support.

No. BMC charges only for the resources listed: bandwidth, processing time, and data retention. Every cost is visible in your dashboard in real time before you're billed. No per-seat fees, no idle-cluster costs, no exit fees.
BMC offers two models: prepaid credits or a credit card on file. With credits, you top up in advance and costs are deducted per job — bandwidth, processing time, and data retention, plus any additional services linked to your account. With a card, charges are aggregated monthly and billed automatically. You can see the running total on the Billing tab at any time.
Spider execution stops and any additional services tied to your BMC account — such as proxies, captcha solvers, or external API integrations — are also paused until you top up. Your data, projects, and configuration stay intact. You'll be notified so you can act before your balance runs out.
If your card is declined or removed, spider execution and any linked services are paused immediately until a valid payment method is confirmed. Your data, projects, and configuration stay intact. Everything resumes automatically once the issue is resolved.
Yes, optionally. If you manage your own accounts — SerpAPI, proxy provider, captcha solver — you provide the credentials and they connect directly to your spiders. If you'd prefer Bitmaker to manage those services, we can. Costs are handled upfront and deducted from your credit balance.
Yes. It's applied automatically when you create a new BMC account. No credit card required to claim it.
Same code, different operator. BMC is the managed version Bitmaker runs for you — patched, monitored, backed up, with a hosted Kafka/MongoDB/MySQL stack. Self-hosted Estela is the same open-source codebase on your own Kubernetes cluster, where you own the infrastructure and operations. Feature parity is intentional: anything that works on BMC works on self-hosted.
Yes. Both use the same engine and CLI. Your spiders and data are portable — same schema, same payloads, 1:1 import into your own Estela instance. No lock-in on either side.
It covers ongoing maintenance and incident response for teams that self-host the Estela platform — on their own infrastructure or Bitmaker-managed infrastructure. This includes platform bug fixes, security patches, Kubernetes and database maintenance, and SLA-backed incident response. Spider code, custom middleware logic, and client workload performance are outside scope but can be covered through other Bitmaker services.
Reactive means Bitmaker responds when you report an incident. Proactive means Bitmaker monitors your platform continuously and initiates diagnosis without waiting for you — including uptime monitoring with alerts within 2 minutes of a detected outage (Professional and Enterprise), and performance alerts for Kafka lag, MongoDB disk, and CPU thresholds (Enterprise only).
Contract terms are defined per engagement based on scope and tier. Contact us and we'll be upfront about what a realistic agreement looks like for your situation.
No. The setup fee is a one-time cost quoted separately based on infrastructure complexity, number of nodes, and cloud provider. The monthly retainer covers ongoing support only.
Yes. Tiers are flexible and can be adjusted as your team's needs evolve. Upgrades and downgrades are coordinated through your account manager.
Kubernetes on-premise, AWS, GCP, and Azure. Full managed deployment on cloud providers is available with Estela Commercial Support.
Bitmaker is always responsible for the Estela platform: API, Web UI, Celery workers, Kafka, Redis, Bitmaker Proxy, and the monitoring stack. Infrastructure components like MongoDB, Kubernetes, and storage depend on whether you're on Bitmaker-managed or self-hosted infrastructure. Spider code, spider dependencies, and client proxy providers are always the client's responsibility.
